God Is In The TV Zine is delighted to be invited to curate a stage at the 7th edition of The New Colossus Festival which takes place in a number of venues around New York’s Lower East Side (3 – 8 March).
This week we preview the five artists who will be performing.
Since their formation in 2021, when Julie Landers and Elle O’Leary Kelleher first began as the duo Patty and Selma, I Dreamed I Dream (Ireland) has evolved into a four-piece, expanding their sound and energy. With Claire Aherne (vocals/bass), and Niamh Hayes (synths) rounding out the lineup, the band has become a fixture of Ireland’s vibrant music scene.
Their debut single, ‘Apparition’, was released in September 2023, and it was a striking introduction to their sound, a smouldering take on dream-pop that fuses shoegaze-inspired atmospherics with sharp-edged punk energy. When asked how they would describe their music, the candid response was: “No punk bitch-wave your mother would say “fair play for trying something different in all fairness”.”
In spring 2025 the band released their second EP Boyopoisoning following the 2023 debut Why Say A Lot?. The four tracks are an eclectic blend of soundscapes which are an utter joy for the ears, full of energy and unpredictable twists and turns. Having had notable support slots, including Protomartyr and Gurriers, and performed at Left of the Dial festival in Rotterdam in October, we are delighted to showcase I Dreamed I Dream in New York.
Fun fact: Favourite lyric of all time:
“I thought that pain and truth were things that really mattered but you can’t stay here with every single hope you had shattered” from ‘In a Big Country ‘ by Big Country
