NEWS: Folklore Records release new EP featuring Frankie Archer, Michele Stodart, Cormac Nagle and The Ocelots

Folklore Records have released a new four track EP Folklore Vol. 3, the third part of the label’s series of compilations. Featuring new recordings from Frankie Archer, Michele Stodart, Cormac Nagle, and The Ocelots.

Founded by Brighton-based songwriter Jacko Hooper in 2014, Folklore Sessions began as an intimate pub night in the heart of Brighton & Hove with a mission to spotlight great songwriting in its purest form. Having shared the stage himself with acts like Bastille, James Bay, Freya Ridings, and Michael Kiwanuka, Hooper created Folklore to champion the songwriters he believed in—“those writing with depth, honesty, and soul. What started as a grassroots event quickly evolved into one of the UK’s most influential songwriting communities.”

Folklore Vol. 3, the latest in its acclaimed compilation series spotlighting boundary-pushing songwriters and storytellers working within and beyond the folk tradition brings together four distinctive artists—”each shaping modern folk music in their own way”, Frankie Archer, Michele Stodart, Cormac Nagle, and The Ocelots.

Not only renowned as a label and tastemaker, Folklore opened its own venue, The Folklore Rooms in Brighton, which now hosts live music seven nights a week and has welcomed the likes of John Smith, Joshua Hyslop, Kassi Valazza, Jamie Lawson, Wunderhorse, and many more. Folklore’s impact has also grown through the expansion of its label, Folklore Records, and through collaborations with artists including Gabrielle Aplin, Swim School, Axel Flóvent, Katherine Priddy, and Junior Brother.
About the artists on Folklore Vol. 3:

The new EP showcases Folklore’s stylistic sound in a unique way, taking 4 acclaimed artists and displaying them on a short run vinyl release that captures the essence of what has seen Folklore acclaimed to date.
Folklore Vol. 3 is due for release Nov 21st.
