KEYAH/BLU has returned with her beguiling new double single release ‘Euston / Corridors’. It finds the ultra-talented artist stepping into her own as a self-producing force, continuing to defy genres, whilst digging deeper into the emotional intensity and vivid dexterity of her work. These singles are evocative, minimalistic, yet deeply intimate, as she explores “the complexities of human connection, identity, and the quiet resilience to exist and evolve in today’s world.”
‘Euston we have a problem’ is shot through with reflection of a morning commute across London as spindling guitar motifs and tender bars give way to crescendo, its meditative and moving splicing elements of soul, hip-hop and offbeat guitar sounds. While ‘Corridors’ is laced with a bleary-eyed delivery and skittery beats and layered with pungent instrumentation runs, introspective yet popping with chanted refrains, it shows another side to her work. Calm in the eye of a storm, KEYA/BLU is an artist to be reckoned with.
The South London artists work captures what it means to live in the emotional in-between, floating through the chaos, beauty, and extremities of everyday life. Following themes of perseverance, recovery, and courage, with brutally honest reflections on substance addiction, personal growth, love, friendship, and the deeply human desire to keep going, both a personal manifesto and a universal reminder that even when we lose our way, we can find new paths.
Despite having only a handful of releases to date, KEYAH/BLU has already left a lasting impression. She’s also shared stages with Jorja Smith, Little Simz, Tirzah, Obongjayar, and Yves Tumor, and appeared on the iconic COLORS show, solidifying her status as one of the UK’s most magnetic emerging voices.
