NEWS: Flip Top Head announce second EP ‘Trilaterial Machine’

Continuing their collaboration with producer Theo Verney (Lime Garden, English Teacher, Blood Wizard), Flip Top Head announce new EP Trilateral Machine. It promises to cut through the conceits, the flourishes, the fat, focusing in on the organic force of a stripped-back rock ensemble tightened by years of performance.

The title of their second EP, due 23 January via Blitzcat Records (ashnymph, C Turtle)Trilaterial Machine marks the band’s most elaborate work to-date, and will be heralded by a 2026 headline run including their biggest headline to date at London’s The Lexington. The band also share its labyrinthine title-track. Rising and falling from the epic to the discreet, and powered, as ever, by the operatic vocals of Bowie Bartlett, the band share more on the track:

“’Trilateral Machine’ sees Flip Top Head recycling lyrics from an unreleased song- ‘If I Could Atomize’- by Elliot, Bowie’s late Dad’s band. Like many Flip Top Head songs, the sonic elements and lyrics came together separately from one another; evolving over time, until being soldered together like some sort of machine. Meaning is left open to interpretation, with the machine in question being a metaphor for whatever crutches we lean on in life to achieve the things we want to. The message, we hope, is one of empowerment, in overcoming unexpected obstacles and finding comfort along the way.”
