Belfast post-punk/electronic specialists Chalk have released new single ‘Can’t Feel It’ via ALTER Music, and announce details of their biggest UK and Ireland headline tour yet, set to kick off in April next year. Newly-partnered with the New York City headquartered label, Chalk’s latest effort marks the follow-up to acclaimed August single release ‘Pain’, and arrives alongside news of the group’s biggest headline shows to date, including London’s iconic Electric Ballroom on 23 April, and a mammoth hometown gig at Limelight in Belfast on 16 May.
Having sequestered to rural Ireland and industrial East Belfast to record their new material, Chalk’s vivid soundscapes have already earned them widespread praise from their peers in Fontaines D.C., IDLES and Sprints, all of whom handpicked the group to play alongside them at various shows throughout the last twelve months.
Spearheaded by award-winning musicians and filmmaker duo Ross Cullen and Benedict Goddard, Chalk have experienced a meteoric rise so far in 2025, with a sold-out UK and European headline tour in the spring followed by debut festival appearances at the likes of Glastonbury and Bilbao BBK. Chalk are set for their debut US headline tour this November, including dates in New York and LA.
Speaking ahead of the new singles release, Cullen explained:
“We wanted to write a dance track that celebrated the ups and downs of youth. It’s about a secret first kiss I had with a friend when I was younger, and reminiscing on the euphoria of that — but also the excitement of keeping something hidden from everyone around me, which in the end led to feelings of solitude and alienation.”
Detailing the accompanying visuals, the band explained:
“‘Can’t Feel It’ is a song about sensuality, yearning, and desire. I wanted to set this story in a medieval world of courtly love and rivalry, merging mythic imagery with modern elements like smartphones and earpods. The result is a music video that reflects the tension between repression and release, tradition and experimentation.”
