The brainchild of Will Wiffen (vocals/guitars/keys), Jonny Pyke (drums) and Lucy (Ciera Lucia) (bass/vocals/keys), London newcomers ashnymph are merely 6 months into their existence. A handful of gigs at key grassroots hotspots later, the trio are already sharing bills with risers Formal Sppeedwear, YAANG, Tommy Barlow and wing!, signing to cult independent label Blitzcat Records (Flip Top Head, C Turtle) and, ever quick to the mark, sharing self-produced debut single ‘Saltspreader’. Fusing erratic electro-rumblings with indie-pop memories, the trio’s twin passions for intricate dance-music production and loud, furious rock corruption are both on show.
Speaking more on the track, Will shares:
“There’s a lot of nostalgia in it, from when I was a kid listening to MGMT, just trying to understand the way music worked.”
Johnny adds:
“It actually depicts the romance of the freight industry. It’s the soundtrack to the inner workings of a lorry driver’s life. It’s service station dance music”
