Fresh from signing to Next Door Records in their native Canada, The Dears are back with their first new music since 2020’s Lovers Rock, in the shape of ‘Babe, We’ll Find A Way’, a new single released digitally on 17th June 2025. The band have not been dormant though, last year celebrating the 20th anniversary of their classic No Cities Left album, including a show at Islington Assembly Hall just before Christmas 2024. On top of this, frontman Murray Lightburn recently won the Best Original Score at the 2025 Canadian Screen Awards for Any Other Way: The Jackie Shane Story.
Of the new track, Lightburn says “The music came down all at once; strings, guitars – melodies. It was so strong and vivid. It pines for the breakthrough, we know it’s there! It’s so tangible. When that happens, inner strength takes over. There’s a motivation, a reason to get out of bed. You can feel the sun on your face and maybe a little later a smile will take over.”
The band have announced Canadian dates in November and December 2025, beginning in Montreal on November 20th. Meanwhile, the new single is available now on streaming platforms.
