NEWS: New York’s Native Sun release new single ‘Squash’ ahead of debut album

New York City alt-rock outfit Native Sun share new single ‘Squash’ via TODO Records, the second from their forthcoming debut album arriving later this year following ‘I Need Nothing’. It’s raw, hedonistic energy and rebellious spirit of early punk and garage rock, coupled with Native Sun’s trademark melodic/art-rock sensibilities.

Fronted by Colombian-born Danny Gomez (vocals/guitar) alongside Justin Barry (bass/vocals), Jack Hiltabidle (guitar), and Argentine-born Nicolas Espinosa (drums), Native Sun is celebrated for their visceral live shows and Gomez’s socially-charged lyrics that confront reality head-on channelling disillusionment into action and lovingly documenting the lives of society’s misfits and marginalized.

Detailing their newest release, the band stated:
“‘Squash’ came to life after a night that bled into morning, wrapped in the quiet shame between the last stragglers of the night and the first workers of the day. It’s that moment of reflection—sparked by sobering daylight, a kind of inner dialogue—when you start to question where your life’s been, what you’ve missed, and what still might be coming—just out of view, but hard to shake.”

‘Squash’ is produced and mixed by Jonathan Schenke (Parquet Courts, Snail Mail, Bodega, The Drums, Pottery) and mastered by Joe LaPorta (David Bowie, IDLES, Future Islands, Vampire Weekend).
