Sandi Thom - I Wish I Was A Punk Rocker (With Flowers In My Hair)
Blimey… gosh… well…
I'm not really sure where to begin with this, I'm searching around both my brain and my room looking for a reference point. Its… like that singer songwriter stuff… Its a solo, largely acopella song, written by a woman who looks like Avril Lavigne, and sounds (according to the press release) like KT Tunstall. Your mum, and your ten year old sister will love it.
Its an actual song too. That you can learn the words to and then sing along and everything. Its about being nostalgic for a past that you were never part of - “I was born too late, and to a world that doesn't care, I wish I was a punk rocker with flowers in my hair”. In a few minutes I'm going to go and make a cup of tea. You can guarantee that when the kettle boils I'll be humming, hell, perhaps even singing the chorus (probably at the cat).
So yeah, she can write songs well and she has a voice that could melt PVC. If you want to see how the other half live, then check it out. Why not?
