Natural Self - The Love Theme
Will Metcalfe 27/10/2007
Don't get me wrong, I enjoy breaks, electronica-Christ, even a littletrip hop now and then but I'm not a beats junkie or anything. With thatin mind Natural Self's latest effort 'The Love Theme' is what I wouldcall generic. It makes perfectly good background music but I can't really imagine shaking anything to it, except my head in an unrelated conversation.
Lack of character and Tricky-isms aside it makes for pleasant listening. At this point I would usually make some outlandish and unquestionably pointless claim, but I'm not going to. Instead I'm going to ask you to listen to this record and tell me if it makes you vomit. It doesn't? No,I didn't think so; but did it make you ejaculate with the ferocity of an overtly aroused dolphin? I thought not. It goes on the stereo, you listen, you realise fifty minutes later it's over. As singles go you have to question the logic for releasing this otherwise enjoyable track.
