Friends Electric - Something You Should Know

What with the sun finally rearing its hat, Friends Electric are here to soundtrack its appearance with latest single Something You Should Know. Hailing from the former mining town of Neath, the band have been slowly growing in popularity over the past few years remixing for the likes of Kylie Minogue and Kelis. However, it has been over the last year that they have moved into establishing themselves and concentrating on their own songs.
The first three seconds of Something You Should Know sound a bit like a train station tannoy call but not to worry, its serves a fantastic purpose to throw-up the gorgeous keyboards and vocals that, I can only pretentiously describe as 'swooping up and enveloping the listener.' The band claim they have “...a burning desire to make people dance” and I can see why - this is the kind of music that you want to listen to outdoors spinning around really fast. (Which is perfectly socially acceptable and if you find the opposite then it's time to take a step back and think about revaluating your social circle.) This single is just so warm and lovely, you need it in your life for at least springtime! It has all the right ingredients for the right side of a euphoric dance song: Synths, echo vocals, harmonies, a bit of brass, strings, drums, keys and that nice bit in songs that go - down, down, down then BOOM it's all back and a bit louder and you get a chorus again.
If you are a fan of Miike Snow then I highly recommend that you give Friends Electric a listen, and if not then I suggest you lend your ears to both of them! Something You Should Know provides a sort of bouncier Miike Snow but a less invasive DJ Sammy. Obviously these references only apply if you've actually listened to any of these artists if not I look like I can't spell Mike and am advertising a DJ off of the late 80s... For all its greatness however, there is just one issue I have to address with Something You Should Know: WHY IS IT NOT AT LEAST ONE MINUTE LONGER?! It isn't as though it's ridiculously long as it is, it'll be fine - just shove another minute of bliss on there and we'll all be happier for it!
Something You Should Know is released 28th March on The Blue Team.
