Gregory and the Hawk - Ghost

Sugary, female vocals aren't to everyone's taste but they always make me smile and they work well in the wintry ambiance of this new offering from Gregory and the Hawk.

Despite originating from New York, this thoroughly enjoyable record recalls Scandinavians Hello Saferide and Speedmarket Avenue with its trumpet flourishes, briskly strummed guitar and evocation of cosy, domestic passion. Its composer has a rare talent for song craft and Ghost is backed with an equally lovely song called Dare and Daring.

Like an invigorating walk over a cold heath, I heartily recommend it.
