The Pigeon Detectives, Dance To The Radio - Romantic Type

Paul Cook 26/02/2007

Rating: 4/5

Emerging from the rather overcast shadows of Leeds, The Pigeon Detectives are buzzing with energy and rhythmic prowess. Matt Bowman and co. have been dubbed by NME as “the band most likely to leap to the main stage in 2007”, and 'Romantic Type' is pure breakthrough quality

Surpassing anything their rock-neighbours the Kaiser Chiefs have produced recently, The Pigeon Detective's perfected craft has grown strong lending it a natural and pure feel. 'Romantic Type' has a real power and desire to impress to the last. Lead and rhythm fuse to create a soundscape of rich, raw jams and Matt Bowman's vocals, not quite as crisp as one might wish, still emphatically deliver.

If 'Romantic Type' is anything to go by, their debut album, due for release later this year could quite well be the breakthrough album of the year with an electric energy that will knock your socks off.
