Wigwam - Wigwam

As knowing, ironic pop combos go, Blur bassist Alex James and early 90s popstrel Betty Boo are a pretty textbook example. Wigwam treads a dangerous line between so-mainstream-its-underground cool and actually resembling late 90s Danish pop clowns Cartoons, but they stay just the right side of it with intelligent and funky production and a winning melody. It's unbelievably silly, but in the same kind of sexy way as Blur's own 'Girls and Boys', and it kind of works. No doubt it's Alex James' answer to Gorillaz - and it has just as much of a knack for pop hooks.
