Goldfrapp - Caravan Girl

Goldfrapp seem to have been floating around in the music scene for a lifetime - Next year will be the 10th anniversary of the band's formation. The chilled out electro-pop that Alison Goldfrapp and Will Gregory continue to produce is timeless and sublime at times and this, the third single to be released from the band's most recent album Seventh Tree is another strong, soaring three and half minutes of light, relaxing vocals and serene choral accompaniment.

The instrumentals on Caravan Girl are fairly standard comprising of a simple drum beat and riff with a delicate piano throughout. It's this factor, the safety of a simple riff or two, that makes the track slightly pedestrian. It won't hit the top spot in the charts, nor will it go down as one of Goldfrapp's most fantastic tracks. The lighter more delicate approach to both the vocals and instrumentals make it only half as good as what we know the duo are capable of.

Caravan Girl is release on Mute Records on 30th June 2008.
