Booka Shade - Charlotte
Owain Paciuszko 25/05/2008
This synth heavy laidback dance tune mixes its vocoder-swallowed vocals with a wealth of whitenoise, reminiscent of a Commodore 64's loading gurgle. It entertaingly prances around in a svelte 80s fashion, as if bouncing on a pogo stick, dressed in a turquoise shell suit and sucking on a push pop. There's a certain devil-may-care lack of invention to this, it feels like the interim between a DJ mixing two tracks together and, somehow, it works. It's not fantastic, not by a long stretch, it won't sit in your memory but it's perfectly enjoyable fluff. The four remixes do the usual elongations making very little statement other than maybe a harder bassline or a meatier drumbeat here and there.
